Collection: Philosophy Prints

Over three hundred lines from the philosophers, in the languages they wrote in: Descartes in French and Latin, Nietzsche and Kant in German, Laozi and Confucius in classical Chinese, Camus and Sartre in French, Socrates and Aristotle, Dōgen and the Zen masters, Unamuno and Borges in Spanish. Many of these lines are famous precisely because they fit on a wall.

Philosophy prints suit a study, a reading corner, a hallway, a university flat, or a bedroom where a line can be argued with each morning. Prints in the original language, with the English translation on the product page, are the ones philosophy students and teachers buy, because the original wording is often the point. Chinese and Japanese lines are set vertically, in columns read right to left.

Questions people ask

Are the attributions reliable? Each product page carries a confidence grade, with the source where one is known. Philosophers are paraphrased constantly, and a line that has drifted from the text is marked medium or disputed rather than presented as a quotation.
