You miss 100% of the shots you don't take. — Wayne Gretzky | Printable Wall Art

“You miss 100% of the shots you don't take.”

Words by Wayne Gretzky (1961-) — Ice hockey legend known as 'The Great One'.

About this quote

This phrase encourages action over inaction. In sport and daily life, failing to try guarantees a negative result, whereas taking a chance creates the possibility of success. The message is simple: fear of failure should never prevent someone from making an attempt, as reluctance is the only absolute way to lose an opportunity.

Canadian ice hockey player Wayne Gretzky said this during an interview with Bob McKenzie for Hockey News in January 1983. It quickly became one of the most famous modern aphorisms on risk and motivation.

People often hang this print in a home office or study to encourage daily persistence and ambition.
