“Where there's hope, there's life. It fills us with fresh courage and makes us strong again.”

Words by Anne Frank (1929-1945) — Diarist and Holocaust victim.

About this quote

This line flips the ancient proverb that where there is life, there is hope. Anne Frank suggests that hope comes first. Optimism is not just a passive feeling, but an active force that rejuvenates the human spirit. Holding onto belief in a better future gives us the bravery to endure terrible circumstances and rebuild our internal strength.

Written by Jewish diarist Anne Frank while in hiding from Nazi persecution in Amsterdam during the Second World War. The entry, recorded in June 1944, reflects her remarkable psychological resilience despite constant danger.

People often hang this print in a bedroom or study to offer daily encouragement during difficult times.
