Wohin noch mag mein Weg mich führen? Närrisch ist er, dieser Weg… — Hermann Hesse | Printable Wall Art

“Wohin noch mag mein Weg mich führen? Närrisch ist er, dieser Weg, er geht in Schleifen, er geht vielleicht im Kreise. Mag er gehen, wie er will, ich will ihn gehen.”
“Where might my path still lead me? Foolish, this path — it loops, perhaps it circles back on itself. Let it go where it will, I will walk it.”

Words by Hermann Hesse (1877-1962) — German-Swiss novelist and poet.

About this quote

This line reflects a quiet acceptance of life as a winding journey rather than a straight line. Instead of resisting uncertainty or fearing that one is simply repeating past mistakes, the speaker resolves to embrace the path fully. It suggests that personal growth often requires wandering, and that commitment to the journey matters more than having a clear destination.

The line comes from Hermann Hesse's 1922 novel, Siddhartha. Set in ancient India, the book explores a man's lifelong quest for spiritual enlightenment, self-knowledge, and peace through varied human experiences.

People often hang this print in a hallway or study to offer daily encouragement during times of change.
