When you love you should not say, God is in my heart… — Kahlil Gibran | Printable Wall Art

“When you love you should not say, God is in my heart, but rather, I am in the heart of God.”

Words by Kahlil Gibran (1883-1931) — Lebanese-American poet and author of The Prophet.

About this quote

This line reflects on the humbling nature of true love. Gibran suggests that love is not a private emotion we hold inside ourselves, but a vast spiritual realm into which we enter. Rather than claiming to contain the divine, we ought to recognise our smallness and feel embraced by something far greater than our individual ego.

This passage comes from Kahlil Gibran’s 1923 book, The Prophet. It forms part of the chapter titled On Love, in which the prophet Almustafa addresses the community about the divine nature of human affection.
