Train people well enough so they can leave, treat them well enough… — Richard Branson | Printable Wall Art

“Train people well enough so they can leave, treat them well enough so they don't want to.”

Words by Richard Branson (1950-) — Founder of Virgin Group.

About this quote

Effective leadership balances investment in staff development with genuine respect and strong support. By offering thorough training, employers give team members the skills and confidence to thrive anywhere. However, by creating a supportive, rewarding culture, organisations ensure that employees choose to stay out of loyalty and job satisfaction rather than a lack of options.

Attributed to Sir Richard Branson, founder of the Virgin Group. The quote gained widespread popularity online and in management literature from around 2014 onwards, perfectly encapsulating his well-known philosophy of putting staff wellbeing before short-term profits.

People often hang this print in a home office or workplace boardroom to encourage thoughtful management practices.
