To see what is right and not do it is a lack… — Confucius | Printable Wall Art

“To see what is right and not do it is a lack of courage.”

Words by Confucius (551-479 BC) — Chinese philosopher and teacher.

About this quote

This statement addresses the gap between moral awareness and action. It suggests that simply recognising what is duty or moral truth is insufficient. True integrity requires the bravery to act upon that knowledge. Knowing the right course of action but failing to pursue it, whether out of fear or indifference, represents a fundamental flaw in character.

The line originates from the Analects, a collection of sayings and ideas attributed to Confucius and compiled by his disciples long after his death. It reflects core ethical teaching from ancient China regarding personal virtue.

People often hang this quote in a home study or workspace as a daily prompt for personal integrity.
