過而不改，是謂過矣 — Confucius | Printable Wall Art

“過而不改，是謂過矣”
“To make a mistake and not correct it — that is a real mistake.”

Words by Confucius (551 BC-479 BC) — Ancient Chinese philosopher, founder of Confucianism.

About this quote

Everyone makes errors, but this quote suggests that a misstep only becomes a genuine failure when you refuse to learn from it and set it right. Confucius emphasises personal growth through self-reflection. True character is defined not by flawless behaviour, but by the willingness to acknowledge faults, take responsibility, and actively correct them instead of persisting in error.

This line comes from the Analects of Confucius, a collection of sayings and teachings recorded by his disciples during the Warring States period in ancient China. It appears in Book 15 as part of his moral guidance.

People often hang this print in a home office or classroom to encourage resilience, humility, and continuous learning.
