桃花潭水深千尺，不及汪倫送我情 — Li Bai | Printable Wall Art

“桃花潭水深千尺，不及汪倫送我情”
“Though Peach Blossom Pool is a thousand feet deep, it cannot match the depth of my friend's farewell.”

Words by Li Bai (701-762) — Tang dynasty 'Poet Immortal', celebrated for romantic and imaginative verse.

About this quote

This line uses a dramatic natural comparison to measure the depth of human affection. The poet acknowledges that even a legendary body of water, famous for its great depth, falls short when compared to the warmth and devotion shown by his friend Wang Lun during their parting. It captures the timeless sentiment that genuine friendship outweighs any grand spectacle of nature.

It comes from a Tang dynasty poem by Li Bai, titled 'To Wang Lun'. Written in eighth-century China, it records a personal farewell between the famous poet and his local host.

People often hang this print in an entryway or living room to warmly welcome guests and honour friendship.
