Those who bring sunshine to the lives of others cannot keep it… — J. M. Barrie | Printable Wall Art

“Those who bring sunshine to the lives of others cannot keep it from themselves.”

Words by J. M. Barrie (1860-1937) — Scottish novelist, author of Peter Pan.

About this quote

This line suggests that kindness is inherently self-rewarding. When you bring joy, comfort, or hope into the lives of other people, that positivity naturally warms your own life as well. Happiness is not a finite resource to be guarded, but something that increases through sharing. By making the world brighter for those around you, you inevitably enrich your own spirit in the process.

Written by Scottish novelist and playwright J. M. Barrie, best known as the creator of Peter Pan. The line appears in his 1900 novel Tommy and Grizel, reflecting the story's themes of empathy, selflessness, and emotional connection.

People often hang this print in a hallway or kitchen to welcome guests with a warm, uplifting thought.
