There is no failure except in no longer trying. — Elbert Hubbard | Printable Wall Art

“There is no failure except in no longer trying.”

Words by Elbert Hubbard (1856-1915) — American writer and philosopher.

About this quote

True defeat only occurs when someone chooses to give up completely. As long as effort continues, setbacks are merely part of the learning process rather than a final ending. This quote encourages persistence and reframes mistakes as temporary steps, reminding us that resilience is the real measure of success and that trying again keeps possibilities alive.

Written by the American author and philosopher Elbert Hubbard around the turn of the twentieth century, this maxim reflects his popular philosophy of self-reliance, practical work ethic, and quiet perseverance.

People often hang this print in a home office or study to encourage persistence during challenging projects.
