Words by Fyodor Tyutchev (1803-1873) — Russian romantic poet and diplomat.

About this quote

This line captures the fleeting beauty of early autumn, often known as Indian summer. It describes a brief, luminous period when nature seems to pause, offering clear skies, quiet days, and gentle warmth before the cold arrives. The poet encourages us to notice these quiet, beautiful transitions in time, appreciating brief moments of stillness and grace before seasons change.

Written in 1857, this opening line comes from one of Tyutchev's most famous landscape poems. Published during the height of Russian Romanticism, it reflects his deep fascination with nature, time, and the subtle shifts between the seasons.
