The reports of my death are greatly exaggerated. — Mark Twain | Printable Wall Art

“The reports of my death are greatly exaggerated.”

Words by Mark Twain (1835-1910) — Novelist and humorist, author of The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn.

About this quote

This classic line is a lighthearted way to address false rumours, premature conclusions, or misjudgements about one's decline. It turns a serious misunderstanding into a moment of clever humour, demonstrating resilience and good nature. Today, people use it to signal that they, or their projects, are far from finished and remain active despite any claims to the contrary.

Mark Twain wrote a version of this line in May 1897 while in London. Responding to a journalist inquiring about rumours that he was dying, Twain noted that the report of his death was an exaggeration.

People often hang this print in a home office or study as a humorous reminder of resilience and longevity.
