The only place where success comes before work is in the dictionary. — Vidal Sassoon | Printable Wall Art

“The only place where success comes before work is in the dictionary.”

Words by Vidal Sassoon (1928-2012) — British hairdresser and businessman.

About this quote

This clever wordplay reminds us that genuine achievement requires effort beforehand. In daily life, effort must precede results, whereas in an alphabetical dictionary, the letter S simply appears before W. The message promotes discipline, patience, and persistent application, emphasising that there are no genuine shortcuts to reaching your goals.

Vidal Sassoon frequently shared this observation during his career as a hairdresser and business founder. Although similar alphabetical sayings existed earlier in the twentieth century, Sassoon credited his teacher for the lesson and regularly cited it.

People often hang this print in a home office or classroom to encourage daily focus and discipline.
