“The most beautiful thing we can experience is the mysterious. It is the source of all true art and science.”

Words by Albert Einstein (1879-1955) — Theoretical physicist.

About this quote

Wonder, curiosity, and facing the unknown drive both creative expression and scientific discovery. Einstein believed that human progress depends on our capacity to feel awe before what we do not yet understand. Far from being something to fear, mystery is the vital spark that kindles imagination, inquiry, and deep reflection, serving as the common root for all artistic and intellectual work.

Albert Einstein wrote this reflection in his 1930 essay titled Wie ich die Welt sehe (How I See the World). It was later published in his 1934 book of the same name, outlining his personal philosophy on life, art, and science.

People often hang this print in a study or home library to inspire quiet curiosity and creative thought while working.
