Отговорила роща золотая берёзовым, весёлым языком — Sergei Yesenin | Printable Wall Art

“Отговорила роща золотая берёзовым, весёлым языком”
“The golden grove has fallen silent, its cheerful birch-tongue stilled”

Words by Sergei Yesenin (1895-1925) — Russian lyric poet.

About this quote

This line uses the image of an autumn forest losing its bright leaves to reflect on the passage of time and youth. As the golden grove grows quiet, the speaker accepts that a lively season of life has ended. It is a gentle meditation on impermanence, nostalgia, and finding peace in the natural cycle of aging and change.

Written in 1924, this is the opening line of one of Yesenin’s most famous lyric poems. Composed near the end of his short life, it reflects the Russian village poet's deep connection to nature and growing sense of melancholy.

People often hang this print in a quiet study or reading corner to encourage thoughtful reflection and calm.
