Words by Sun Tzu — Ancient Chinese military strategist, author of The Art of War.

About this quote

Success is achieved through careful planning and foresight long before any action begins. Victorious leaders evaluate conditions, resources, and potential outcomes in advance, ensuring strategy precedes execution. Thoughtful preparation minimises risk, whereas rushing into action without prior assessment leads to failure. True strength lies in deliberate forethought rather than relying on luck or immediate reactions during a crisis.

This line comes from the opening chapter of The Art of War, an ancient Chinese military treatise attributed to Sun Tzu. The text focuses on strategic planning and deliberate assessment long before engaging in conflict.

People often hang this print in a home office or study to encourage thoughtful preparation and strategic foresight.
