The future ain't what it used to be. — Yogi Berra | Printable Wall Art

“The future ain't what it used to be.”

Words by Yogi Berra (1925-2015) — Baseball catcher and manager known for his memorable sayings.

About this quote

This playful paradox uses classic Yogi Berra logic to make a point about changing expectations. On the surface, the phrasing seems nonsensical, as the future has not happened yet. However, it neatly captures how our visions of tomorrow rarely match reality. It reflects on nostalgia, progress, and the feeling that modern life is more complicated than the straightforward future people once imagined.

This famous saying is attributed to the American baseball legend Yogi Berra, who included it in his 1998 collection of memorable quotes. While similar phrases circulated in the twentieth century, Berra popularised this specific phrasing.

People often hang this print in a home office or study as a humorous reminder to adapt.
