The function of leadership is to produce more leaders, not more followers. — Ralph Nader | Printable Wall Art

“The function of leadership is to produce more leaders, not more followers.”

Words by Ralph Nader (1934-) — Attorney and political activist.

About this quote

This quote redefines true leadership as an act of empowerment rather than control. Instead of gathering obedient followers to build personal authority, a genuine leader invests time in developing the skills, confidence, and independence of others. The ultimate measure of success is not how many people obey you, but how many capable individuals you equip to guide others.

The statement is credited to Ralph Nader, the American consumer advocate and political activist. It reflects his long-standing approach to grassroots organising, where sustainable social change relies on training new advocates rather than relying on a single figurehead.

People often hang this print in a home study or office to encourage a collaborative, empowering management style.
