The bond that links your true family is not one of blood… — Richard Bach | Printable Wall Art

“The bond that links your true family is not one of blood, but of respect and joy in each other's life.”

Words by Richard Bach (1936-) — American author of Illusions.

About this quote

This line redefines family beyond biological ties. It suggests that true kinship stems from mutual respect and shared happiness rather than shared genetics. The people who genuinely value your presence, support your growth, and celebrate your achievements form your real family. It encourages us to cherish relationships built on love, choice, and deep emotional connection rather than relying solely on obligation.

This quotation comes from Richard Bach's 1977 philosophical novel, Illusions: The Adventures of a Reluctant Messiah. Following his bestseller Jonathan Livingston Seagull, Bach used the story to explore personal freedom, spiritual discovery, and the nature of chosen relationships.

People often display this print in a living room or entry hallway to welcome both chosen family and guests.
