“Raise ravens and they'll peck out your eyes.”

A traditional Spanish saying, set as gallery-quality typographic wall art.

About this quote

This traditional expression serves as a warning against ingratitude. It suggests that if you nurture, support, or show kindness to bad or treacherous people, they will eventually turn on you and harm you in return. The metaphor of the raven highlights how ungrateful behaviour can be deeply painful, particularly when it comes from those you have raised, helped, or trusted.

This is a well-known Spanish proverb dating back centuries. While its exact origins are lost to time, it has been widely used across the Spanish-speaking world for generations to describe the pain of betrayal.

People often hang this print in a home office or study as a practical reminder of human nature.
