Our lives begin to end the day we become silent about things… — Martin Luther King Jr. | Printable Wall Art

“Our lives begin to end the day we become silent about things that matter.”

Words by Martin Luther King Jr. (1929-1968) — Civil rights leader.

About this quote

This statement suggests that true living is defined by moral action and conviction. When we choose to stay quiet about injustice or critical issues out of fear or indifference, we surrender our integrity. Physical survival without moral purpose is a form of spiritual decay, making silence a retreat from a meaningful life.

Based on a sermon delivered by Martin Luther King Jr in Selma, Alabama, in March 1965. The exact wording evolved through subsequent printed collections during the American Civil Rights Movement.

People often display this in a home study or classroom to encourage daily courage and thoughtful conversation.
