Единица — вздор, единица — ноль — Vladimir Mayakovsky | Printable Wall Art

“Единица — вздор, единица — ноль”
“One person is nothing, one person is zero”

Words by Vladimir Mayakovsky (1893-1930) — Futurist poet of the Russian avant-garde.

About this quote

This quote highlights the limitations of individual effort compared to the power of collective action. A single person working alone carries little weight against the tide of history. True impact, progress, and effective leadership arise when people unite around a shared vision. It serves as a stark reminder that solid achievement relies on community, cooperation, and solidarity rather than isolated heroism.

Written by the Russian Futurist poet Vladimir Mayakovsky, this line appears in his 1924 epic poem Vladimir Ilyich Lenin. It reflects early Soviet ideals, emphasising the importance of the collective over the single individual.

People often hang this in a shared workspace or meeting room to encourage teamwork and collective effort.
