Von allem Geschriebenen liebe ich nur Das, was Einer mit seinem Blute… — Friedrich Nietzsche | Printable Wall Art

“Von allem Geschriebenen liebe ich nur Das, was Einer mit seinem Blute schreibt.”
“Of all that is written, I love only what one writes with their blood.”

Words by Friedrich Nietzsche (1844-1900) — German philosopher.

About this quote

Nietzsche values absolute sincerity and deep personal conviction in literature and thought. To write with blood means to invest one's real life experiences, suffering, and earnest passion into one's work, rather than offering empty academic rhetoric. He believes true writing requires personal sacrifice and genuine courage, creating words that carry profound weight and resonate deeply with the reader.

The line appears in Friedrich Nietzsche’s 1883 philosophical work Thus Spoke Zarathustra, specifically in the chapter titled "On Reading and Writing". It reflects his critique of superficial intellectualism during the late nineteenth century.

People often display this in a home study or writing space to inspire deep, committed creative work.
