“Никогда и ничего не просите! Никогда и ничего, и в особенности у тех, кто сильнее вас”
“Never ask for anything! Never, and especially not from those who are stronger than you”

Words by Mikhail Bulgakov (1891-1940) — Author of The Master and Margarita.

About this quote

This advice encourages pride, personal integrity, and self-reliance. Seeking favours from powerful figures compromises your independence, as it forces you into a subordinate position. By refusing to beg or plead, you retain your dignity and avoid debt to those who might exploit your weakness. True support, the quote suggests, comes unprompted to those who remain steadfast.

The line is spoken by the mysterious Woland to Margarita in Mikhail Bulgakov's classic novel The Master and Margarita. Written during the 1930s under Soviet censorship, the book was only published decades after the author's death.

People often hang this print in a home study or office to foster independence and resilience while working.
