Chi ama me, ama il mio cane. — Italian Proverb | Printable Wall Art

“Chi ama me, ama il mio cane.”
“Love me, love my dog.”

A traditional Italian saying, set as gallery-quality typographic wall art.

About this quote

This proverb suggests that true affection requires complete acceptance. If you genuinely care for someone, you must also embrace the things, habits, and companions that matter to them, even if they present a challenge. It uses a faithful pet as a simple symbol for a person's whole life: real friendship or love cannot be selective, but must welcome the entire package without reservation.

While popularised as an Italian proverb, this saying dates back to medieval Latin literature. It was recorded by Saint Bernard of Clairvaux in the twelfth century, though its exact folk origins are much older and untraced.

People often hang this print in a hallway or entryway to greet visitors with a lighthearted, welcoming rule.
