“Lass dir alles geschehen: Schönheit und Schrecken. Man muss nur gehen: kein Gefühl ist das fernste.”
“Let everything happen to you: beauty and terror. Just keep going: no feeling is too far away.”

Words by Rainer Maria Rilke (1875-1926) — Austrian-German poet.

About this quote

This line encourages us to embrace every aspect of life, both joyful and painful. Rilke reminds the reader that difficult emotions are a natural part of being human, not something to fear or avoid. By continuing forward through despair as well as delight, we experience the full richness of existence, knowing that no single feeling lasts forever.

Written by Rainer Maria Rilke, this verse comes from his 1905 poetry collection, The Book of Hours. It reflects his early spiritual themes, exploring how quiet endurance and openness to life can bring a deeper connection to the divine.

People often hang this print in a bedroom or study to offer quiet comfort during challenging times.
