Умей нести свой крест и веруй — Anton Chekhov | Printable Wall Art

“Умей нести свой крест и веруй”
“Learn to bear your cross, and have faith”

Words by Anton Chekhov (1860-1904) — Playwright and short-story master, author of The Cherry Orchard.

About this quote

The quote calls for quiet endurance and steadfast hope when facing hardship. The phrase "bear your cross" refers to accepting life's inevitable burdens with dignity, while the instruction to "have faith" encourages trust in a purpose beyond immediate suffering. It suggests that strength lies not in avoiding pain, but in carrying it with composure and inner conviction.

Spoken by Nina in Anton Chekhov’s 1896 play The Seagull, this line appears near the climax as she reflects on enduring art and personal hardship, urging resilience through quiet endurance rather than dramatic ambition.

People often hang this print in a bedroom or quiet study to offer daily encouragement during difficult times.
