Leadership is about making others better as a result of your presence… — Sheryl Sandberg | Printable Wall Art

“Leadership is about making others better as a result of your presence and making sure that impact lasts in your absence.”

Words by Sheryl Sandberg (1969-) — Former Meta COO, author of Lean In.

About this quote

This quotation redefines true leadership as an unselfish act focused on human growth. Rather than exercising authority or demanding attention, a genuine leader aims to elevate the skills, confidence, and character of their team. The ultimate test of this influence is longevity; real success means establishing a positive culture, clear values, and capable people that continue to thrive even when the leader steps away.

Sheryl Sandberg popularised this definition in her 2013 book Lean In, where she drew upon Harvard Business School guidelines. It has since become a standard reference point in contemporary management literature.

People often hang this print in a home study or office to inspire thoughtful management and mentorship.
