Joy is the serious business of Heaven. — C. S. Lewis | Printable Wall Art

“Joy is the serious business of Heaven.”

Words by C. S. Lewis (1898-1963) — British author of The Chronicles of Narnia.

About this quote

Lewis suggests that true joy is not a trivial or fleeting emotion, but the central purpose of existence in Christian theology. Rather than viewing spiritual life as sombre, he argues that ultimate reality is defined by profound delight. Joy is therefore something to be taken seriously as a central element of faith.

This line appears in C. S. Lewis's book Letters to Malcolm: Chiefly on Prayer, published posthumously in 1964. The work consists of fictional letters exploring Christian prayer, liturgy, and worship.

People often hang this print in a study or living room to encourage daily perspective and quiet reflection.
