About this quote

This quote emphasises resilience over adversity. Everyone encounters setbacks, failure, or disappointment at some point, but defeat is only permanent if you accept it. True success comes from the determination to recover, learn from the fall, and press on. The emphasis is on personal strength, grit, and the choices you make after experiencing a hardship.

Vince Lombardi, the legendary American football coach who led the Green Bay Packers in the 1960s, popularised this phrase. It reflects his famous coaching philosophy centred on relentless discipline, mental toughness, and personal accountability.

People often hang this in a home gym or study to encourage daily perseverance through challenging tasks.
