Más vale caer en gracia que ser gracioso. — Spanish Proverb | Printable Wall Art

“Más vale caer en gracia que ser gracioso.”
“It's better to be charming than to be funny.”

A traditional Spanish saying, set as gallery-quality typographic wall art.

About this quote

This proverb plays on the word gracia, which means both humour and favour or charm. It suggests that having people view you fondly is far more valuable than simply being entertaining or witty. Wit might amuse an audience temporarily, but genuine warmth and good favour foster lasting goodwill, trust, and affection from those around you.

This traditional Spanish proverb has circulated orally and in print across the Spanish-speaking world for centuries. As a folk saying, its precise origins and date of creation remain unknown, though it appears frequently in classical collections of refranes.

People often hang this print in a hallway or dining room to welcome guests with warmth and good humour.
