Im echten Manne ist ein Kind versteckt: das will spielen. — Friedrich Nietzsche | Printable Wall Art

“Im echten Manne ist ein Kind versteckt: das will spielen.”
“In the true man a child is hidden – it wants to play.”

Words by Friedrich Nietzsche (1844-1900) — German philosopher.

About this quote

Nietzsche suggests that beneath adult seriousness, responsibility, and social expectations, every man retains an innate drive for play, spontaneous joy, and creative freedom. Rather than viewing this childlike quality as a weakness to be outgrown, the philosopher sees it as an essential part of a vital, authentic life. True maturity allows space for this innocent curiosity to remain active.

This line comes from Nietzsche's 1883 philosophical work, Thus Spoke Zarathustra. It appears in the chapter titled On Little Old and Young Women, where the protagonist Zarathustra reflects on human nature, love, and the underlying motivations of men and women.
