In spite of everything, I still believe that people are really good… — Anne Frank | Printable Wall Art

“In spite of everything, I still believe that people are really good at heart.”

Words by Anne Frank (1929-1945) — German-Dutch diarist, author of The Diary of a Young Girl.

About this quote

Written by a teenager hiding from Nazi persecution, this line expresses extraordinary compassion and moral strength. It suggests that human goodness is an innate quality, deeper than the cruelty or hatred people might display. Choosing to retain faith in humanity amidst profound fear and suffering is a deliberate act of hope, reminding us that empathy can endure in the darkest times.

This passage appears in Anne Frank’s diary entry dated 15 July 1944. She wrote it while hiding in an Amsterdam annex during the Nazi occupation, shortly before her arrest and deportation to a concentration camp.

People often hang this print in a study, hallway, or classroom to offer daily encouragement and perspective.
