Si nada nos salva de la muerte, al menos que el amor… — Pablo Neruda | Printable Wall Art

“Si nada nos salva de la muerte, al menos que el amor nos salve de la vida.”
“If nothing can save us from death, may love at least save us from life.”

Words by Pablo Neruda (1904-1973) — Chilean poet, Nobel Prize in Literature 1971.

About this quote

This line contrasts the inevitability of death with the burdens of daily existence. Neruda suggests that while human connection cannot grant us immortality, love provides a vital refuge from the hardship, grief, and weariness of living. It reframes love not merely as a romantic feeling, but as an essential sanctuary that gives purpose and comfort to our time on Earth.

Written by the Chilean poet and Nobel laureate Pablo Neruda, this sentiment reflects his lifelong preoccupation with mortality and romance. It remains one of his most widely quoted reflections on human emotion.

People often hang this print in the bedroom or study as a quiet reminder of love and solace.
