I'm not the next Usain Bolt or Michael Phelps. I'm the first… — Simone Biles | Printable Wall Art

“I'm not the next Usain Bolt or Michael Phelps. I'm the first Simone Biles.”

Words by Simone Biles (1997-) — Gymnast, most decorated gymnast in World Championship history.

About this quote

Simone Biles rejects the impulse to define her extraordinary achievements using the names of male sporting legends. Instead of accepting the label of being the next version of someone else, she asserts her unique identity. The quote celebrates individual identity and self-worth, reminding us that true greatness comes from carving out your own path rather than following another person's footprint.

Biles spoke these words to reporters during the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro. Having just secured multiple gold medals, she used the moment to resist comparisons to male sporting stars and claim her own distinct legacy.

People often hang this print in a gym, study, or classroom to inspire self-confidence and personal excellence.
