I'm not concerned with your liking or disliking me. All I ask… — Jackie Robinson | Printable Wall Art

“I'm not concerned with your liking or disliking me. All I ask is that you respect me as a human being.”

Words by Jackie Robinson (1919-1972) — First Black player in Major League Baseball.

About this quote

This statement shifts the focus from popularity to fundamental rights. It suggests that personal affection is unnecessary for peaceful coexistence, but dignity and equal treatment are non-negotiable. Robinson emphasises that mutual human respect must supersede personal prejudice or individual preference, establishing a firm boundary where personal feelings do not dictate how someone ought to be treated.

Jackie Robinson spoke these words during his historic career as the first African American player in modern Major League Baseball. Facing intense racial hostility, he frequently advocated for civil rights and basic dignity throughout the mid-twentieth century.

People often hang this print in a study or workplace to serve as a daily reminder of professional dignity.
