I don't know why people are frightened of new ideas. I'm frightened… — Betty White | Printable Wall Art

“I don't know why people are frightened of new ideas. I'm frightened of the old ones.”

Words by Betty White (1922-2021) — Actress and television personality.

About this quote

The quote contrasts the common fear of change with the dangers of unexamined tradition. New concepts often provoke anxiety because they are unfamiliar, yet remaining stuck in outdated mindsets or old prejudices poses a far greater risk. Progress requires challenging established habits, as rigid adherence to old ways can cause real harm, whereas fresh thinking offers the chance to grow and improve.

American actor Betty White expressed this sentiment during her long career in television. While composer John Cage published a similar thought in the twentieth century, White became widely associated with this playful, forward-looking observation.

People often hang this print in a home office or study to encourage creative thinking and open-mindedness.
