I don't care what is written about me so long as it… — Dorothy Parker | Printable Wall Art

“I don't care what is written about me so long as it isn't true.”

Words by Dorothy Parker (1893-1967) — Writer, poet, and critic known for sharp wit.

About this quote

This line subverts the usual worry about public gossip. Most people fear lies being spread about them, but Parker suggests that false reports are harmless because they are untrue. The real danger lies in accurate criticism, which actually stings. It is a witty reflection on vanity and reputation, pointing out that absurdity is far easier to endure than uncomfortable truth.

Dorothy Parker was a celebrated American critic, poet, and satirist famous for her sharp wit. This observation reflects the caustic humour of mid-twentieth-century literary circles, where she routinely poked fun at public image and celebrity culture.

This print often hangs in a home study or office to bring a touch of dry humour to the workspace.
