I am no longer accepting the things I cannot change. I am… — Angela Davis | Printable Wall Art

“I am no longer accepting the things I cannot change. I am changing the things I cannot accept.”

Words by Angela Davis (1944-) — Political activist and academic.

About this quote

This statement subverts the traditional notion of passive acceptance by shifting the focus to active agency. Instead of resigning oneself to unfavourable circumstances or systemic injustice, the speaker chooses to take action. It is a powerful declaration of personal responsibility, courage, and determination, encouraging people to challenge the status quo rather than quietly endure it.

Associated with the American political activist and academic Angela Davis, this quote deliberately reframes Reinhold Niebuhr’s famous Serenity Prayer. It became a prominent rallying cry within modern civil rights, feminist, and social justice movements.

People often hang this print in a study or home office to inspire daily resolve and purpose.
