El que ríe último, ríe mejor. — Spanish Proverb | Printable Wall Art

“El que ríe último, ríe mejor.”
“He who laughs last, laughs best.”

A traditional Spanish saying, set as gallery-quality typographic wall art.

About this quote

Initial success or early celebration does not guarantee ultimate victory. True triumph belongs to the person who succeeds at the very end of a contest, conflict, or struggle. It serves as a reminder to stay patient, remain quietly confident, and avoid celebrating prematurely, because circumstances can change until the final outcome is decided.

While widely recognised as a traditional Spanish proverb, variants of this saying exist across many European languages. Its precise origin is unknown, but it has circulated in folklore and print throughout Europe since at least the sixteenth century.

People often hang this print in a home office or games room as a lighthearted nod to patience and perseverance.
