Have no fear of perfection, you'll never reach it. — Salvador Dalí | Printable Wall Art

“Have no fear of perfection, you'll never reach it.”

Words by Salvador Dalí (1904-1989) — Surrealist painter known for The Persistence of Memory.

About this quote

This quote reassures creators that flawless work is an impossible standard. Striving for perfection often leads to paralysis, preventing artists and thinkers from starting or finishing projects. Accepting that human effort is naturally imperfect frees you to experiment, make mistakes, and make genuine progress. True creativity flourishes when you release the anxiety of trying to achieve an unattainable ideal.

This famous maxim is attributed to the Spanish Surrealist painter Salvador Dalí. It appeared in his mid-twentieth-century writings, including his 1964 book Diary of a Genius, offering practical yet witty advice for aspiring artists and writers.

People often hang this in a home office or art studio to overcome creative block and encourage daily practice.
