Far better it is to dare mighty things, to win glorious triumphs… — Theodore Roosevelt | Printable Wall Art

“Far better it is to dare mighty things, to win glorious triumphs, even though checkered by failure, than to rank with those poor spirits who neither enjoy much nor suffer much.”

Words by Theodore Roosevelt (1858-1919) — 26th U.S. President.

About this quote

This quotation encourages taking bold risks rather than settling for a safe, unremarkable life. Roosevelt argues that trying for greatness, even if it results in occasional defeat, is far more fulfilling than avoiding effort altogether. True vigour comes from pushing boundaries, while a comfortable existence without ambition leaves a person cold, unfulfilled, and emotionally detached from life's greatest rewards.

Theodore Roosevelt delivered these words in Chicago on 10 April 1899 during his famous speech titled The Strenuous Life. At the time, he was Governor of New York, advocating for active effort, national duty, and personal hardship over quiet ease.

People often hang this print in a home office or study to inspire courage when taking professional risks.
