Faith is to believe what you do not see; the reward of… — Saint Augustine | Printable Wall Art

“Faith is to believe what you do not see; the reward of this faith is to see what you believe.”

Words by Saint Augustine (354-430) — Christian theologian and Bishop of Hippo.

About this quote

This quote explores the nature of spiritual trust and conviction. It suggests that genuine faith requires accepting truths that cannot be physically observed or proven beforehand. By holding onto these unseen convictions, a person eventually gains clarity and experiences the reality of those beliefs directly. The statement frames faith not as blind ignorance, but as a necessary first step towards spiritual sight.

This line comes from the writings of Saint Augustine of Hippo, an influential fourth-century Christian theologian. It originates from his Latin sermons, where he frequently addressed the relationship between belief, understanding, and divine revelation.

People often display this quote in a quiet study or bedside area for peaceful morning reflection and steady encouragement.
