Faith is taking the first step even when you don't see the… — Martin Luther King Jr. | Printable Wall Art

“Faith is taking the first step even when you don't see the whole staircase.”

Words by Martin Luther King Jr. (1929-1968) — American civil rights leader.

About this quote

This quotation encourages action in the face of uncertainty. It suggests that trust does not require a complete plan or guaranteed outcome before beginning a journey. By focusing on the immediate action rather than the entire path ahead, one can overcome hesitation, embrace hope, and move forward with quiet courage, even when the ultimate destination remains hidden from view.

This famous line is attributed to Martin Luther King Jr., though it does not appear in his major published writings. It likely originated in his spoken sermons or speeches during the civil rights movement in the 1960s.

People often hang this print in a hallway or study to encourage courage when starting new endeavours.
