About this quote

This quote encourages honest self-awareness alongside resilience. It advises us to accept our flaws, limitations, or difficulties rather than hiding from them. However, recognition should not turn into surrender. Acknowledging a hardship allows us to address it, ensuring that our personal struggles or shortcomings do not define our character, limit our ambitions, or control our future choices.

Written by American author and activist Helen Keller in the early twentieth century. It reflects her lifelong philosophy of meeting profound physical sensory challenges with honesty, self-discipline, and enduring determination.

People often hang this print in a home office or study to encourage persistence during challenging tasks.
