日日是好日 — Zen Proverb | Printable Wall Art

“日日是好日”
“Every day is a good day”

A traditional Japanese saying, set as gallery-quality typographic wall art.

About this quote

This saying encourages us to live fully in the present moment rather than judging our experiences as favourable or unfavourable. Instead of waiting for ideal conditions to feel happy, it suggests that every single day possesses its own quiet worth. By meeting whatever arises with awareness and an open mind, we can find value and peace in the simple act of living.

Recorded in the twelfth-century Zen text the Blue Cliff Record, this famous phrase is attributed to the ninth-century Chinese master Yunmen Wenyan. It has since become a central koan in Zen philosophy and traditional Japanese tea ceremony culture.

People often hang this print in a hallway or kitchen as a gentle daily reminder to embrace the present.
