Cada uno es como Dios le hizo, y aun peor muchas veces. — Miguel de Cervantes | Printable Wall Art

“Cada uno es como Dios le hizo, y aun peor muchas veces.”
“Each man is as God made him, and often a good deal worse.”

Words by Miguel de Cervantes (1547-1616) — Spanish novelist, author of Don Quixote.

About this quote

This witty observation pokes fun at human imperfections and excuses. While people often accept their innate flaws as divinely ordained, the line points out that human beings frequently manage to exceed those natural shortcomings through their own foolishness or bad choices. It is a lighthearted reminder that we cannot blame nature or fate for every mistake we make.

This line appears in Miguel de Cervantes' legendary Spanish novel Don Quixote, published in the early seventeenth century. It reflects the pragmatic, ironic humour that runs throughout the book, contrasting lofty ideals with everyday human frailties.

People often hang this print in a hallway or living room to greet guests with a warm, self-deprecating smile.
