A caballo regalado no se le mira el diente. — Spanish Proverb | Printable Wall Art

“A caballo regalado no se le mira el diente.”
“Don't look a gift horse in the mouth.”

A traditional Spanish saying, set as gallery-quality typographic wall art.

About this quote

When you receive a gift, you should accept it graciously rather than inspecting it for flaws or calculating its monetary value. The image comes from checking a horse's teeth to determine its age and health. Finding fault with something given freely shows poor manners. It reminds us to appreciate the generosity behind a gesture rather than questioning the quality of the offering.

This folk proverb exists across many languages, with roots tracing back to early Latin writings by Saint Jerome in the fourth century. It has been a standard idiom in both Spanish and English oral traditions for centuries.

People often hang this in the kitchen or dining room as a gentle reminder to practise daily gratitude.
