Don't give up. Don't ever give up. — Jim Valvano | Printable Wall Art

“Don't give up. Don't ever give up.”

Words by Jim Valvano (1946-1993) — College basketball coach, known for his ESPY 'Don't give up' speech.

About this quote

This line is a direct, uncompromising call to resilience. It reminds us that setbacks and hardships are a natural part of life, but failure only becomes permanent when we choose to stop trying. The simple repetition underlines the importance of persistence, encouraging people to keep striving regardless of the difficulties or odds stacked against them.

American college basketball coach Jim Valvano delivered these words during an emotional speech at the inaugural ESPY Awards in March 1993, just two months before he died from glandular cancer.

People often hang this in a home office or training space for daily motivation during difficult challenges.
